Reiki for Inner Peace (Reiki I Training) with Louise Chalice
Sunday 12 October, 10am - 4.00pm, The Pierian Centre

Booking & More Information: louise@plantingpeace.com
Cost: £70.

The word Reiki is a Japanese word, usually translated as Universal Life-force Energy, and as such it IS truly Universal. We are all born with Reiki, all living beings have it and the Universe is filled with it. The system which has come to be called ‘Reiki’ has a Japanese name because it was developed in Japan from the late 19th century by Dr Usui. The Reiki system Dr Usui initiated comprises a safe, non-intrusive hands-on healing technique for use on yourself and with others and for the healing of the planet. It is not connected to any particular dogma, cult or religion although its roots can be traced from Tibetan Buddhism (and possibly even further back!)

Reiki heals by flowing through affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy. It raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body where negative thoughts and feelings are attached. This causes the negative energy to break apart and fall away. In so doing, Reiki clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the Universal Life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.

Reiki is a simple and powerful system of energy healing that can transform lives. It releases blocked energy, promotes relaxation and reduces stress. It can enhance intuition, meditation and personal spiritual evolution, and help one find a space of inner peace.

This workshop will reopen your energy pathways reconnecting you to the healing flow of the Universe. A manual will be provided.
Please bring a vegetarian dish to share for lunch.

WORLD PEACE DAY 2007

World Peace Day was celebrated with a Music Procession along Bristol docks. www.planting-peace.com

Over 40 people took part on a blustery day and many more looked on as the colourful and musical spectacle passed by.

Songs were sung, banners unfurled, and poems recited.

There were instruments from all round the world; and a giant lotus flower, made by artist Lilla Duignan, was lowered into the water and floated away across the docks with blessings and prayers for peace from all those who participated.

www.planting-peace.comChildren and adults had written their hopes for Peace on paper leaves which were then attached to an 8-foot Peace Tree, carried in the procession.

'Peace is lying in bed and smoothing a cat' wrote Emma (aged 5) and accompanied it with a picture. John, aged 6, thought that 'Peace is hugging my Mum'. To Ryan 'Peace means to me friendship and helpfulness' and Iona (aged 6) said 'Peace is not leaving people out'.

Molly thought that 'Peace is listening to my Mum singing' and six-year old Anya thought 'Peace means a baby sleeping'. Hannah, 7, said 'Peace is silent and quiet' and appropriately for Planting Peace, Alice said that 'Peace is looking at the rainbow'.

www.planting-peace.comAfter the Procession people returned to the Pierian Centre in St Paul's for an evening concert, and a chance to see the film, Peace One Day, documenting the journey to get World Peace Day established.

The Peace concert in the evening was led by Celia Beeson of Soundscape with her gongs and singing bowls.

www.planting-peace.comFurther contributions came from Heartwaves, Tim Chalice, and the Bristol Dances of Universal Peace group. Chants were voiced, songs sung, poetry read, and the Universal Greeting was shared. The whole evening moved beautifully between meditation and celebration.

The following commitments for peace were recorded:

"I commit to peace in my heart towards everyone".

"All we are saying is give peace a chance - imagine peace in our hearts, our world, our universe".

"I commit to always do my best with positivity, love, compassion, wonder and enthusiasm and to help others through their troubles while sending love and light out to all beings and all things".

Ursula Monn, Nick Thomas & Tim Chalice.

WORLD PEACE DAY 2006

In 2005 Louise and I celebrated World Peace Day with 5 friends and family in our lounge. Inspired by the film ‘Peace One Day’ we watched that evening we decided to take the message of Peace out to our community and to put on a bigger celebration in 2006. Roll on 12 months and Planting Peace has been established with regular chanting evenings, a concert, a website and lots of support from friends, family and the Pierian Centre. We celebrated World Peace Day at the Pierian Centre and over 100 people came along to join in a variety of events for Peace.

Louise and I had just returned from India the evening before and although tired we returned inspired and with renewed commitment to the Peace work. Louise led the opening meditation, which focussed all our hearts on Peace and set our intent for the day. The Heartwaves then led two packed gong and sound baths which were beautiful sound meditations. While some were bathing in sound others took the opportunity to experience different healings given freely by a wonderful group of volunteers. There was also an afternoon showing of Peace One Day the film that started it all and inspired the day. Everyone then came together for the unveiling of the Pierian Peace Pole. Carved locally, this beautiful pole is an eye catching statement of June and the Pierian Centre’s commitment to Peace.

After some well-earned food we had a full house for the evening showing of Peace One Day, which left the audience inspired and motivated. The evening then concluded with Peace songs and chants, led by myself, which was very beautiful. The combination of wonderful voices and open hearts created a very special finale to the day before we all came together in a circle, as one, to send our Peace out into the world.

If anyone would like to be involved next year or has ideas for getting the message of Peace to a wider audience do please get in touch – tim@plantingpeace.com

In Peace,
Tim Chalice

“If there is to be
any peace
it will come
through being,
not having”
- Henry Miller

"Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centres of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls"
- Robert F. Kennedy
